Ways to Recycle Unwanted Clothes and Earn Cash

Okay, so after getting hooked on Tidying with Marie Kondo, I’ve now organised my wardrobe and bagged up clothes that neither fit or make me happy.

Several bin bags later its really been an eye opener to the amount of consumption and waste we as a human race create.

So instead of adding further to the ever growing land fills, I’ve decided to check out companies that offer customers a voucher or cash as rewards for return of our unwanted things.

If you are an avid H&M shopper this will be perfect for you. The company accepts a carrier bag of textiles (tee-shirts, dresses, bedding etc) for a voucher that give £5 off your next shop of £25 or over. The voucher lasts for 6-12 months (always check the reverse to make sure). This offer is great as you can recycle any clothes not just H&M items, just make sure they are textile only. You will find the green garment boxes to place your bags of clothes next to the cashier till. Simply tell the shop assistant what your doing and they will hand over the voucher. But be careful its so tempting to fill that empty wardrobe back with new clothes!
Oxfam and M&S have teamed together to encourage customers to recycle clothes they no longer wear. Simply head over to your nearest Oxfam with your donated clothing (at least one item must be an M&S label) or soft furnishings and you will receive a £5 M&S voucher off a £35 spend on clothing, home and beauty products in M&S stores.Levi’s
Levi’s clothes recycling initiative in the UK offers customers a 10% discount on Levi’s products, in return for leaving a bag of any brand of clean, dry clothes or shoes at their collection boxes in store.
And its not just clothing where you can gain rewards. Both MAC and Lush offer similar rewards.
As a commitment to protecting the environment, many of Lush’s products come without any packaging at all. But for the liquid form type of products that do. You can return and trade in five empty pots to receive a free face mask.
MAC Cosmetics
By returning six MAC primary packaging containers to a MAC counter or MAC Cosmetics Online, you will receive a free MAC lipstick of your choice as a thank you.
Happy organising Marie Kondo stay!
