The Benefits of Oils in Beauty

From my articles you’ll probably get a clear impression I’m quite big on the use of carrier oils. I’m often using homemade concoctions of olive, coconut and almond oil to use on my skin, nails and hair. Not to mention adding essential oils for aromatherapy methods. For me, oils play I big part in both my beauty and wellness regimes.

Oils have been used for centuries and dates back to the Egyptian times. I first learnt about the benefits of Olive oil from my grandmother who I remember always massaging the oil into her face and hands before bedtime. Which I always found weird till I reached my teenage years and understood why she followed this ritual and eventually continued with the family tradition. Obviously I keep one bottle of olive oil in the kitchen for cooking and the other for my beauty needs. Except when I run out, you get the picture.

Olive Oil
You’ll probably associate more with cooking but it’s many health benefits make it great for many things. An oil that is sometimes considered too heavy as a moisturizer, I still think it’s the cheapest and best of all the oils.

It’s great as a moisturizer, treating dry skin conditions, soothes dry inner ears to avoid ear infections, improves flaky and brittle nails as well as improving dandruff when used as a hair treatment, the list of benefits goes on. Although you can buy in the food aisles of your favourite supermarket. The medicated olive oil can be found in the health aisles of drug stores such as Boots (UK). The medicated olive oil is much lighter and clearer in colour than the cooking kind, though if using extra virgin olive oil in your food cupboard, this variety works just as good for your beauty treatments.

Almond Oil
Thanks to its Vitamin E nutrient, almond oil is perfect for the skin to fight strong UV rays. I love the fragrance of pure almond oil and often buy in bulk from Amazon. This oil is my perfect blend for hot oil treatments, a fantastic oil to use in aromatherapy, home fragrances and dry oil body sprays. The oil is perfect to smooth dry skin conditions and works well with sensitive skin.

Coconut Oil
Perfect if you love the scent of coconut which I do. Often used as an alternative cooking oil for it’s many health benefits. The raw form of coconut oil works great massaged into the skin to improve dry skin and fizzy hair conditions. It’s perfect for sun tanned skin to avoid peeling. Great as an alternative to removing makeup especially waterproof mascaras. Coconut oil has plenty of health and beauty benefits. Why would you not love it?
