Face sheet masks seem to be the hot new beauty product for the year. Inspired by Korean beauty rituals the sheet is so light it fits to the face like a second skin. With no artificial colouring, alcohol or harsh chemicals used, the masks are designed to be both environmentally friendly and safe to use for all skin types. So when I spotted the Simple Sheet Masks on offer in my local Boots for £1.50 each (normally retail price £3) obviously I had to try and give you guys my feedback.
Simple Rich Moisture Sheet Mask
One sheet is designed to give 16 days of moisturiser, now that’s a big ask especially for someone like myself who has suffered with very dry skin and eczema outbreaks all my life. The Simple Rich Moisture Sheet Mask is infused with botanical extracts and moisturising ingredients which infuse the skin to condition dry and hydrated skin.
As expected the sheet mask was very slimy and wet and was difficult to pull apart before placing on my face. But as the sheet was very thin, it seemed to stick and mould to my face which did look like a snakes second skin. It wasn’t an attractive site looking at myself in the mirror, more like something out of a horror film.
I sat back and relaxed for the required 15 minutes to let the mask work it’s magic. What I noticed straight away was how my skin didn’t feel tight after the first five minutes which normally happens when I use a face mask or peel. It was the first time a face mask actually felt pleasurable to wear.
After the allocated minutes had passed, I removed the mask and massaged the excess product (which felt quite oily) into my face and neck. Then I removed the residue with a cotton wool pad. What I loved about the Simple Sheet Mask was the lack of water required to rinse my face. It allows flexibility of wearing and removing the mask anywhere.
Having very dry skin, I was really pleased my skin felt hydrated and smooth before I even applied my regular face cream. The product is designed to be used once or twice a week and I definitely believe this will improve my skin.
Simple De-stress Sheet Face MaskThe following week I tried the
Simple De-stress Sheet Face Mask. It worked in the same way as the Simple Rich Moisture Sheet Face Mask. Except the ingredients were slightly different. Infused with Aloe and Multi-Vitamins.
This sheet mask is designed to brighten stressed skin but to be honest I found it a bit drying on my dry skin. But would definitely suit someone with combination, normal or oily skin. Those with dry or sensitive skin avoid the De-Stress mask and stick to the Rich Moisture mask. As I found the De-Stress mask felt tight and stingy. Not at all relaxing.
Verdict: A big thumbs up! I like the simplicity of these face masks, they are chemical free and easy to use anywhere. The days following applying the Simple Rich Moisture Sheet Mask left my skin feeling still moisturised and silky smooth. Foundation glided on my skin easily and my skin looked brighter with no uneven patches. Not to mention, no flaky dry skin. I will definitely be carrying on my Asian inspired beauty ritual.
