For some of us 2019 was a pretty rocky year but now that a full decade has ended , it’s time to reflect and refresh by making 2020 your year to shine. Begin by closing your eyes to old ends and open your heart to new beginnings. Take a leap of faith and begin 2020 by believing that it will be your best year ever!
What the New Year will bring to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the New Year. So let’s start right now, by making it the right time to plan for a successful 2020.

SAY NO TO NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS
Let’s face it, New Years resolutions do not work unless you are one of the disciplined few, instead begin with taking each month at a time and setting monthly resolutions.
Every month, you should have a new goal that you plan to achieve. In this way, you’re setting S.M.A.R.T. goals and you will be hitting them by the end of the month. SMART GOALS= Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-based goals. Set one big goal and then set smaller goals that support this big goal.
HAVE THE RIGHT MINDSET
Before you plan for a successful 2020, you should prepare your mind for 2020. Your mind is the main tool that will help you achieve your heart desires. Developing the right mindset is crucial to succeeding in anything.
Success is a mindset thing, if you think it, then you could achieve it!. Having a morning routine will help you start the day in the right frame of mind. It’s best to plan out your day the night before using a planner. This will lay the groundwork for your day, helping you stay organized, productive, and focused. Morning routines for success include waking up at the same time every day, drinking a glass of hot water after waking up, eating breakfast, exercising and/or meditating in the morning.
LEARN TO BREAK OLD HABITS
In 2020, you should cultivate good habits, we all have bad habits but now is the time to address them and make change for the better. Structuring your life will also help you conquer your habits and goals. Honestly, everyone needs structure and routines in their life. You will perform best when you operate on a regular schedule.
Developing healthy habits will also increase your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Start by having a healthy diet as this will make your brain to perform at its peak. Don’t forget to exercise regularly and build healthy sleeping habits to increase your productivity.
CHECK WHAT’S FILLING UP YOUR JAR
Your day is like an empty jar. You should fill your jar with the right stuff. You might be filling your jar with sand by doing meaningless activities that contribute little towards your goals. You need to fill your jar with big rocks. The big rocks comprise major milestones in your life.
You need to have a scale of priorities. Remember, you only have 24 hours in a day. Out of these, you have less than 10 hours of productive time. Thus, you should manage your time effectively.
Effective time management will improve your productivity and efficiency. It will decrease stress and anxiety and help you to achieve a better balance between your career and life goals.
WRITE THINGS DOWN
If you want to plan for a successful 2020, you should write your goals on paper or using a planner. By writing on paper you are in theory committing to it, thinking about it and you will be more focussed to remember to do it. Writing things down will also help your brain to prioritise the things that you should focus on at a particular time.
TAKE MENTAL BREAKS
We are our own worst enemies when it comes to looking after our own mental health and wellbeing, often we leave it too late before we recognise the warning signs. Mental health breaks will refresh your mind and replenish your mental resources. Mental breaks increase productivity and creativity.
LEARN TO BE BOLD & DIFFERENT
In 2020, you don’t have time to be average. Don’t settle for less. GET out there and grab it. Be BOLD! Do something you have never done before. Start writing that book, go travelling, join the gym, and share your art with the world. But most importantly be yourself, its okay to be different. Everything that you want in life is possible. You just need to go that extra mile because it is that extra mile that counts.
AND FINALLY…
The most important tool you need to succeed in 2020 is a game plan. Start RIGHT NOW to plan for a successful 2020. Don’t wait until it is too late. You should plan on how to change your bad habits. Good habits will make you to succeed in 2020. This year, learn to be a better version of yourself and most importantly stay happy!
